Guy Sues Netflix Alleging Unauthorized Use of His Photograph in True Crime Documentary

A Kentucky guy has filed swimsuit in a Texas district courtroom towards Netflix, bringing claims of defamation and misappropriation of likeness after the streaming carrier allegedly non-consensually used an unrelated photograph of him keeping a hatchet of their documentary, “The Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker.”

On April 10, Taylor Hazlewood filed swimsuit within the Texas district courtroom of Dallas County, alleging Netflix used a photograph he posted on Instagram in 2019 in its 2023 documentary with out his permission. He alleged the usage of the photograph, paired with the visuals, captions, and audio used along it, has tarnished his popularity and constitutes a false mild invasion of privateness and is a breach of contract underneath Texas legislation.
